THE ERIN DAVIS SHOW
Hey, beautiful. Welcome back to the Erin Davis show. It is very early July, and this means that we are halfway through the year already. So take a moment, let that land. This is the time of year when it can feel really noisy. It's tax time. There's receipts everywhere. People have been rushing around the last week, in particular to make those last minute purchases or make that last financial move before we clock over to 30 June. So this space has been really, really noisy, but here, I want to offer you something a little different. I want you to pause. I want you to breathe. I want you to take a chance to check in, not just with your spreadsheets and your numbers, but with yourself. Because the truth is, whether your year so far has been really powerful or really patchy, organised or chaotic, the moment right now, this moment matters, and this financial year gives us an opportunity to reset. It's like clearing the slate for a fresh start. So it can be really quite an opportune time to ask ourselves, where am I really at with my money and what do I want for the rest of the year to look like? So this episode isn't about any judgement. It's about clarity and connection and remembering that change doesn't have to just start in January. It can start right now. So whether you're listening to this podcast with your journal Open, or you're out walking, running, doing life, whatever it is, I really want you to just take a moment to think about what is possible for you, and stop waiting to be feeling ready. I want you to just decide, start deciding that now is your moment. So if you're ready, let's get started.
As you know, I'm an accountant, and this time of year has always felt like a really mad rush for me. In the past, it's been Go, go, go, 100 miles an hour, and it feels like you just never stop. In the accounting world, we never have a quiet time of year. People think that it's busy, you know, this July, August, September, and then we're quiet. But the reality is that accountants are full all year round. And I know I was in my full time accounting role, it was always really busy. So there's deadlines, there's tax returns to do, there's tax queries, there's client queries, and all of that is stacked on to the normal life that that I run, or that that we lead as an accountant, and it can be really, really exhausting, so looking after myself in that season has always felt really hard. The self care thing is something that really gets shoved to the bottom of the list, and it is difficult to maintain life being a mum, working full time, being in that space and looking after myself. But this year has been really different. It's not perfect, and the last few weeks, I've been dealing with an injury, so I haven't been running like I normally would, but I have chosen to be slower this year. I have just chosen to not just physically go slower, but mentally slow down. And what I mean with that is I am slower in how I plan my days. I'm slower in how I respond to pressure. And honestly, that slowness just didn't happen. It actually was a decision, and I decided to start managing my calendar instead of letting it manage me.
And as I got more intentional with my time, more aware of where my energy was leaking and where I was over giving, I was able to really take control of where I spent my time and how I showed up. So I know that this seems, you know, I'm sure people have said this to you before, but what really surprised me the most is how calm I actually felt, so much calmer than in previous years. So even with this season that's usually full of chaos, I felt calmer. And so if you're feeling stretched or behind or feeling like you're living in survival mode, I just want you to know that it is possible to do things differently, and it starts with awareness, and then it's a choice.
So let's just take a breather together. Take a breath, slow down and really just lean into what's happened over the last six months, and then where do you want to go for the next six months? As you know, we're halfway through the year, and I want you to really gently ask yourself, Where are you really at with your money right now? Now, this is about being honest with yourself. It is about owning where you're at. There's no judgement, there's no shame, but really just owning where you're at. And I know that that can feel really hard and feel really confronting for a lot of women, but I want you to know that it's not just where you're at with your bank and and how much it says in your bank account. So it's not just whether your budget is balanced or all your receipts are filed, or your Xero file is up to date, if you're in business, I really want you to go deeper than that. How do you feel about money at this point in the year? Have you been avoiding it? Have you been putting it in the too hard basket, telling yourself that you'll deal with it after this busy season, or when the kids go back to school, or when life settles down, or when this happens or that happens, because you know what, there is always something that will stop you from doing what it is that you want to do.
So let me ask you something with love, if not now, then when? And that is a really powerful question, because you know you need to be the one to choose. Are you going to step into this next six months, continuing down the same path that you have for the last six months? And I would actually challenge you, if it has been like this for the last six months, how long before that has it also been like that? The last 12 months, two years, 10 years, 20 years. For some women, what is it that you want to do? When are you going to draw that line in the sand and go? If not, now, when? So, what is that moment right now that could be the beginning of something really different. It's not about hustling harder. It's not about you doing all the things at once because you choose to meet yourself where you are honestly without judgement, because clarity creates the calm. And now I say this a lot in my challenges and when I'm working with people, strategy needs to meet purpose, and I feel that when you have the strategy and the structure in place, you're able to then allow the creativity to flow.
You're able to allow the opportunities to just come in. You're allowed to just show up as you because you've got the structure in place and because you've got things happening in the background, it then allows you to free up that time. You know you can show up with more capacity, rather than just always feeling like your cup is so full and overflowing all the time. And so this clarity creates calm, and that's exactly what I want for you and your money. I want calmness. I want you to feel that spaciousness, and I want you to feel grounded, not just in your spreadsheets, but more aligned, more trust in yourself, more confident, more empowered, more just saying yes to you. And so here's the thing that most people see first of July and think right, tax deadlines. Get it all done. Admin stress, let's go 100 miles an hour without actually stopping and reflecting what's happened. So I want to offer you the opportunity to look at things in a different lens, because at the start of the new financial year, it's not just about compliance, it's actually about consciousness. This is a really powerful point in the year for you to stop and pause and reflect and reset. So I want you to ask yourself, what do you actually want for the second half of this financial year, and what do you want money to feel like? How do you want to feel when you're talking about your money? So maybe the first half of the year was a blur. Maybe you spent more time than you'd planned doing a particular thing. Maybe you avoided your numbers. Maybe you felt like you were just in this hustle mode all the time. And whether you're in business or work working for somebody, you know, you felt like your income was capped or chaotic, and that's okay, because that version of yourself didn't have the clarity that you do now. So right here, right now, you get to choose differently, not from a place of pressure, not from a place of expectation, but from a place of presence.
So let this be the season where you recommit to your vision, reconnect with your numbers, but from a place of calm and clarity and curiosity, not shame. So remember that you don't have to have it all done all at once. You actually just need to begin. And so I've seen it time and time again when I work with women, they come in feeling so overwhelmed, like there it's too late to the party. They've missed the boat. They already feel like they've failed, and within a few weeks, there is a massive shift, because they feel held and supported and connected and seen and heard and understood.
But the thing is, though, the most important thing is that you need to decide. Because when you decide you're done outsourcing your power of money and to money, you start treating it with respect, like a partner, like somebody you love, everything changes. So if you've got your journal handy or put some notes in your phone so you can come back to it later, and even if you've just got a quiet moment, I really want to offer you these three questions. They're simple, but so powerful, because these are the kinds of questions that get you to really shift your energy with money. Because we know that money is not just all about the numbers. There is so much energy attached to money and the way that you connect with it, the way you feel about it, the way you are allowed to receive it, the way you are allowed to give it, the way you're allowed to earn it. It all just comes down to how you feel about it, and I want you to reconnect to you, for you.
So the questions are, what is money showing me about where I'm leaking energy or power right now? So that question again is, what is money showing me about where I'm leaking my energy or power right now. So is it that you are over giving? Maybe you are under charging. Maybe you don't value your worth. Maybe you don't ask for a pay rise. You know that this time of year there are a lot of promotions happening. There are a lot of pay reviews. So are you actually receiving what you're worth? Are you avoiding decisions and let that truth rise up in you gently so no shame, no judgement, just awareness. The second question I want you to ask is, what do I want the second half of 2025 to feel like, both financially and emotionally. Do you want to feel spacious? Do you want to feel secure, light empowered and don't focus on the numbers just yet, focus on the energy that you want to live in. Because we are able to decide, consciously, decide how we want to feel, we are able to change our state in an instant. But it all starts with a decision, and the third question I want to ask you is, what's one courageous, grounded thing you're ready to do with your money this month? Now this doesn't have to be huge. It doesn't have to be changing your whole system, but it does have to be a conscious decision. And you actually have to do it, sorry to say, but you have to do it. You have to be the one to take the first step. And so maybe it's opening a bank account with a particular title on the bank account. You know, you name it what you want it. Maybe it's opening the bank app on your phone and actually having a look at your transactions without flinching, without hesitating, without stepping back. Maybe it's reviewing your subscriptions, because we all know that those subscriptions just add up and they can cause so many big money leaks, but maybe it's also finally asking for support.
And so let these three questions sit with you, write them down, come back to them if you need to just use them as the prompt to reflect that it's not all fluff. It's really a very foundational, powerful piece that you can connect into how you want that relationship with money to actually be. And so when we have this clarity, we are able to really step into the remainder of 2025, without that chaotic mess that we have felt in the past. In the past, we are able to feel really clear, or maybe you are just able to feel somewhere in between. Maybe it's not super clear, but maybe you're not super chaotic, and that's okay be.
Because I want you to know that you are not behind, you're not broken, you're not bad with money, you're just ready for something different. And it all starts with a decision to choose you, to say, I am done with doing this alone. To say, instead, I feel confident with my money, I feel supported, I feel safe, I feel secure. And the most important thing is that you surround yourself with people who are doing what you want. If you're not sure what that next step is, or you're not sure how to feel empowered, but you know deep down that you are ready for something next, then I want to invite you to my free five day challenge. They happen every month. They are just such a beautiful space for you to reset, to learn what it is that you need to learn. There's really powerful tools there.
I share very vulnerable stories with the purpose of letting you know that you're not alone. Even as an accountant, I have made terrible money mistakes. I am not as far ahead in my financial life as what I would like to be, but stepping into this whole rich girl space and creating your own version of rich feels so aligned for me, because it means that I get to choose. I don't have to have hundreds of 1000s of dollars in the bank to feel in control of my money, in order to change my career, in order to step into my business full time, in order to support my kids and do the things that I want to do, I have needed to be good with money. You can't do these things if you're not good with money, and you are constantly feeling overwhelmed and stressed and out of control and chaotic and and just everything is a mess. And so too in order to do that, I have needed to be good with money. And so my free five day challenge happens every month. Like I said, we just have such a beautiful, connected, small group of women who feel empowered. They walk away from those challenges feeling like they are ready for the next step so they feel seen, they feel supported, and they really feel like they can connect into that rich girl power, because grounded rich girls make decisions. Rich girls decide what it is that they want to do. Rich girls don't leave their money power to somebody else. Rich girls step into that space and they own it. Rich girls might not have all the answers, but they know that they can ask for help. And so if this is something that you want to do, head over to my website, which is www.erindavis.com.au/groundedrichgirl and you will get the details for the next challenge. If you're ready to take that step. I would love for you to step into that challenge. It is just such a beautiful way to introduce yourself to the work that I do, plus also to me as well, because I know that this stuff and talking about money can be so triggering for a lot of women, but I want you to know that first of July, new financial year. We're stepping into this space. It is now your chance and your opportunity to create what it is for the rest of this year that you want. Don't leave it to chance. Don't let it just slide by. Actually be intentional and decide what it is that you want, because you can just let life go by like it has for the last six months, 12 months, 24 months, or you can make a decision. You can choose, I am done with that. I have had enough line in the sand. Let's move forward, and so if that is you, then I invite you to jump into my world and connect, because I am here for you. I know that this, this work, creates change not just for you, but for your kids, for everybody around you. And so until next time, just be kind to yourself. Get really honest with your money. Stop sticking your head under the covers and pretending like you don't have any debt, or that you're in control, or there's no emotion attached to money, because I think you're kidding yourself. Now I say that with love, but I want you to be really honest with yourself, because when you can start to be honest, that is when you can make the change.
So until next time, as I said, be kind to yourself, love on your money, and let's do this.
