I have Sarah Ann Black
and now Sarah is my business coach
and I have invited her to come and talk to us today
because I really
I just love her whole way of showing up doing business
the way she manages her money
which I don't know
because we don't talk about that sort of stuff
but I just love being in your world
and I thought that you have so much wisdom to share
that I would love for you to come in here
and just share with my community
a bit about you how you work
um your money mindset and what that looks like
so can you just give us a bit of an introduction
about who you are and what you do
awesome awesome
thank you for having me I'm super
super excited and I'm
I'm so grateful to have you as a client
I love working with you
I love what you're doing with women
and saw your tax retreat and stuff the other day
and I wish I wish I had that when I got started
so we do I do business coaching
but I I have not always been good with money
I've actually been bankrupt
and I didn't pay taxes for like
the first two years that I was in business
so I have not done it all um
the smart way but um
I think we got a pretty good hold over it now
um yeah
and sorry you said what do I do
so we we
we coach coaches on how to build online businesses
hmm amazing
and you said that you didn't do things the smart way
when you first started how did you like
what did you do when you first started
or what didn't you do
um I think I did what everyone does right
you don't clearly separate your funds
you start the business and you only have
like a limited amount of your own resources
to put into the business
anything that comes in goes straight back out
all the money is mixed right
and so I really just had one bank account
everything was in and out of that bank account
I didn't save for tax
I didn't track expenses in any way
um I just thought if I don't do my tax return
then they won't know
hey
uh so I just
I just had you know
it was just messy
and I think that's kind of how it starts
for a lot of people
especially if you don't have a lot of savings
and you're kind of just scrimping to get by
like which I was
I was kind of just going um
week to week type scenario for a while
when we first started the business
so it's very hard at that stage
when you don't have
extra cash flow to cover everything
that you wanna cover
to actually clearly separate your expenses right
and do that properly it can feel very much like
I think my mum had a saying
like robbing Peter to pay Paul or whatever
you know it's like
it's like you're taking from here to do this
and there to do that and so
it's very hard to put clear systems
in place at the beginning um
and so that's how we started
it's just one big mess
hmm and you're very big on systems
the way you run your business is very much systems
process driven um
which allows you to
take the emotion out and just get on with it
and do things
do you have systems and processes now in place
for your money and the way that you show up
yep 100% um
I don't know I don't think it
I can see it on my bookshelf
but there was a book that I read called Profit First
and I um
I haven't fully adopted it
but I adopted a simplified version of that
the profit first method
I think it involves like 8 bank accounts
it's quite a lot it's quite a lot
it's a lot it's too many
it's too many for most people
but the the theory behind it is
and I'll give you guys like a very short overview
is that you have an income account
where your income from your business comes into
and then you split it up straight away
so you have money that
a set amount goes to your tax account
and then a set amount goes to your spending
like your operating account
and you have a set amount that you pay yourself
and we operate very similar to that
we have an income account
and from that we have our tax account
so I I never ever have to worry like
do I have enough money to pay tax
like the money always goes into the tax account
and then I operate off of two credit cards
one is a personal credit card
and one is a business credit card
so we you know kind of
will put the money to them to pay off the bills
and that's kind of like loosely how we do it
we have a savings account as well
but basically everything comes into one account
gets divvied up very clearly
and then we op we operate from
the money that we're allowed to operate from
yeah I like um
I like the idea of profit first
I don't like having so many bank accounts though
I see on on the accounting side when
when there's so many bank accounts
it money goes all over the place
and it ends up being very confusing
makes a real mess of their accounting software um
but I do like just having like
maybe 3 or 4 different bank accounts to
know where you're going and
and then just take that pressure
off 100 100% I totally agree um
obviously the more you grow
like when you add in maybe like
houses and credit cards and things
it might get a little bit more complicated
but to start I think yeah
like four bank accounts and keep it very
very very simple um makes it easy
easy to track and then we we tend to operate you know
we check the bank account
then we make a decision on what we're gonna do
and what we're gonna purchase
and so
if we look at the bank account and we just think oh
there's money in the account we're not really going oh
but I haven't paid tax yet haven't paid this yet
haven't paid that yet
and so if we clearly just split it up
at least to like tax income and business
like even just three right to get started
I think that helps most people but it's hard yeah
it I think it does get too complicated and I think we
we tend to overcomplicate things in everything
that we do
and then that causes the stress and the overwhelm
so if you can reduce that complication factor
it just allows you to see things more clearly
how do you go like you have said before you're ADHD um
you've been on a disability pension in the past
you've been had mental health issues
how do you cope with um
like try to process everything
particularly coming from that ADHD space
is it the systems that you need in order to
simplify that for you
yeah cool
firstly I never got a disability pension
I was told that I needed to and I didn't
but I was I was legally mentally disabled
so I was told that I did need that but didn't do it um
I didn't I didn't go there
no um
but I think so how how do I
how do I manage like in terms of all the moving pieces
look I think the first step that um
most of us need to do is firstly
just give yourself like a little bit of graciousness
and understand that
any system that you're gonna put in place
like yes systems
systems is the key
systems is the way that you work your business
systems is the way that you manage your money um
you would have a system
like if you wanting to invest your money
there's a system like how frequently do you invest
how much do you invest
where do you like that is a system
a system is really just something that
like a set of tasks that you do on
on repeat right
whether it's a manual system or whether it's just a um
like an automated system
it just something that you do repeatedly right
and consistently um
and I think like we put these in place
because it's kind of like a game plan to create success
like I'm gonna manage my money this way
or I'm gonna invest this way or I'm going to um
you know
pay this much into my savings account every week
and that's that's your system
but we we're so impatient with seeing results
and we don't give ourselves enough Grace
when it comes to maybe clawing ourselves out of a bad
situation'cause I've been overextended in the business
and I've been bankrupt and I've
been in a situation
where it's so hard to even implement the system
because you don't have enough money
coming through to implement the system
and we we kind of throw our hands up
and we get frustrated about it and think
we can't make it work or it's not possible
and I think if we just have a long term
thinking towards it and just go
okay cool this is where I'm at right now
and it's okay and it's fine
and now we have this long term strategy
and I'm just gonna run the play
and think of it with a long term mindset
I think I think that's step one to creating success um
and then obviously step two is
is the system like what is the game plan
so what am I gonna do every week or every month
and figuring out how that's going to work for you
right at the beginning
maybe managing your money once a month doesn't work
maybe it needs to be once a week or month
once every two weeks right um
so figuring out what's gonna work for you
and just tweak and adjust as you go
hmm how do you do that though
when you've got these conflicting priorities like you
you need to pay your bills
you um
still want your business to be working and turning over
but there's a disconnect there with you know
the effort that you're putting in
and then the sales coming in
so yes it's a long term game
but how do you manage in that growth period
I suppose where you're doing all the things
but the money is not following at the moment
how do you manage that yeah
um again
it is it is a long term thinking
and having some discernment between
cause let you're giving an example of like
maybe you don't have all the money coming in
so you need to pay for things
but you can't pay for it out of your cash flow
cause it actually doesn't exist
and so you're paying for it out of your tax money
or whatever right
and it's like how do you make those decisions
because I can't grow if I don't invest in this
but I can't invest in this
because I don't have the money to invest in this and
and yada yada right at the beginning
you just fuck it's a fucking mess
it's a mess and just accept that it's a mess
but then there is um a level of discernment
like if you're gonna put a game plan in place um
and I'll just give a really really clear example right
um when I
I joined one of my mentors
I didn't have the funds to join his program
I'd maxed out my credit cards I'd spent my tax account
I want you know
nothing that there wasn't really any funds there
but I knew that this program
was gonna be the thing that would take my business
to the next level
and so I made a game plan and the game plan was okay
it's gonna take me a while to crawl myself
out of this hole to
to get to where I wanna go
the first thing I'm gonna do is
I'm gonna call all the expenses that I can call cool
I've called all the expenses that I can call
the second thing I did was I looked at what stuff
is it OK if I'm late or I default on
and so I was late on a car payment I reached out I said
hey can I not make this payment this month
can I do it in six months or something right
so I said what can I default on
and then what is that for
in my case it was that mentorship like
what is that
one thing that I wanna put my money towards right now
that I know is gonna help me
move forward in the future
and so I put my money towards that thing and I
and then I run the play meaning
I stuck to my game plan of continuing to
make sure I didn't overspend
in all the things I didn't overspend um
do what I was being told to implement
and slowly start to put money back in the account
until I got to the point that I was
you know I paid my bills again and I was back on top
and then I had some extra money in place
and then I could start to implement
the next game plan was
how do I manage my money properly
cause there's no point
even trying to manage my money properly
if I didn't have the strategy to go and make the money
or whatever so that for me that was
it's like just discern
like what really is
the immediate
next thing that's gonna help you move forward
sometimes the immediate
next thing that's gonna help you move forward
might look like a step backwards financially
or it might not feel
it might feel like a stretch or very uncomfortable
right and sometimes it is
sometimes
like many people are living beyond their means
I was living beyond my means
I was living by myself
in an 800 dollar apartment in Sydney
and I didn't have to be so the solution in my case
I was just late on a car payment
but the solution could have been move fucking house
excuse my French
but don't choose to stay in an environment
living beyond your means and then trying to get ahead
sometimes that might be the solution
so just you know
figure out what is the next thing that's really
actually gonna help me move forward
what is the long term game plan
what are the short term sacrifices
that I need to make to get there
be okay with whatever crappy
messy situation it might be in now
and then start working towards
what is that long term play really look like
yeah I think that's really the important part
isn't it it's
you know
where you invest your money in the in the first place
you know you chose to invest it in this direction
because you had full faith that
that was going to be the thing
that drove your business
and your work ethic is phenomenal
and once you make a decision
you just you just stick to that decision
I think it's really easy for people to
lose sight of that longer term plan
and they're chasing that shiny object
syndrome all the time like this doesn't work
so now I'll change it
and I'll do this and that doesn't work and that
you know so I'll change it again
instead of just being really 100% stuck to the plan and
and running that game plan
yeah yeah
um you need to know what game it is that you're playing
because unfortunately
you'll be surrounded by people that aren't
playing the same game that you're playing
and I'll give you some really good examples right
like um this week uh
hopefully probably in the next like couple weeks
Tim and I are gonna buy our first investment property
and I have been putting this off for years
like I had the funds to be able to invest
I paid a buyer's agent but the business
was still in a point where I was needing to invest
in the business
and my parents they're not business owners
they do own property they are very much like
you need to get in the market now Sarah
like for years they've been on my ass
and so they're they're running a different strategy
a different game and they're like
you gotta get in the market
you gotta get in the market
and then I've got a good friend right
and he has a really well paying day job
he's not running a business
he's capped out on what he can earn from his day job
and every bit of excess cash flow goes into shares and
stock and he's very
very smart with the way that he's investing over there
and that's his that's his game plan
my game plan for me was grow my business
because that business is gonna make millions
and millions in cash flow
and nothing else can possibly make
that amount in cash flow
like what we are about to start doing with property
will not cash flow anything
like what my business could possibly cash flow
and so
the first thing that you just need to figure out is
what is the game plan that I'm playing
you may not be playing a game of building a business
so that may not be where you put all your money
you may be playing a game of
I've got a day job this is what I'm capped out at
and I wanna maximize what I have here
um and that
and that's totally cool
so just figure out what is the game I'm playing
and then what is the next best step for me
in what I want to achieve
and it's really hard to just then
cut out the noise of everyone around you
and everything around you who's telling you oh
you should be taking more time off
or you should be going on a holiday
or you should be buying a house
or you should be doing this
you should be doing that like no
you have you have the game you're playing
you have your game plan and just stick to it
it's really hard though
when you are seeing other people um
doing things achieving things in business
I know in our coaching space
um like
I have been guilty of this in the past
of seeing what other people are doing and achieving
and then thinking oh
well I'm not doing enough
why isn't it working for me
maybe I need to change maybe I'm not doing
you know the thing that I need to do
so how like it's easy to say well
you need to stick to your game plan
and stick to your focus how do you manage that
when there is so much other noise around
um just to stay focused on your game plan
I'm I'm a very very logical person
so I think the way that I look at it is if I
if I weigh up the options
like really we
we look at the scenario
we look at my scenario right now
and I have two choices
choice No. 1 is
stick to the game plan that I've created
and I understand what possible
results are going to come from that
nothing in life is guaranteed nothing
but I have a pretty good idea
of what I could possibly achieve in 10 years
and it may not it may take me longer than what I think
it's probably gonna be harder than what I think
it's probably not gonna
get there as smoothly as what I thought ever
doesn't matter what the goal is with the goals
weight loss business
money investing it don't fucking matter relationships
kids it's probably not gonna
go the way that you wanted it to go right
but I know I have a pretty rough idea of like
where I'll go if I stick to this and don't stop
my other option is that I chop and I change and I
also know that if I keep chopping and changing
that I won't get anywhere at all
and so even if I was to change my game plan
I'd have to go all in on this other thing
and completely stop what I'm already doing
like to me that's very logical
it's like it no matter what path you choose
there's always gonna be risk
there's always gonna be possibility
of it not working out and it's always
probably gonna be harder
and more effort than we thought it was going to be
but there's only two choices run the play
chop and change and I know one of them will definitely
not get me anywhere
and one is probably gonna get me somewhere
you always say data over drama
which I love and me being such an emotional person
that is something that I have come back to a lot
data over drama
and just making sure that you're measuring uh
what it is that you're doing
it takes the emotion out of it
so you're coming at it from those logical perspectives
is that something that you have always done
or have you had to practice at it
um
I don't know I don't know I think
I think the
the more you pursue something whether it's health
business relationships
I think the more you start to see patterns and trends
and patterns and trends exist everywhere
and patterns and trends are just data
and I'll give you an example
let's say you're trying to lose weight
and that's that to me is probably more of an emotional
emotionally frustrating journey than building business
but it is still patterns and trends
so at first when you embark
on the journey of trying to lose weight
you're brand new
which means that you don't really know a lot about
calorie deficits energy
hormones sleep
you don't know nothing about that
you just told eat less move more you try
try and lose weight
and so you go on this journey and you're eating less
you're moving more
and then you look in the scales are going up
very emotional
very frustrating now after a little while
you learn some things you learn hey
when you start to lose weight
you're actually retaining water still so you got
you know the weight might go up
but the fat's actually gone down oh
and if you go too hard in a calorie deficit
then you're gonna fucking binge on the weekend
and then you learn
slow and steady is better than going fast
and you know oh
and if you do this then your hormones gonna tank
and you won't have energy
and so then you learn you actually need to eat carbs
and not cut them out to feel better right
you you know
all of these things that you learn along the way
and they're just data in points
as you collect knowledge
so I think when we first embark
on any journey
we are pure pure emotions because we are nothing but um
what is the what is the like ignorance
we are nothing but excited ignorance
we don't know any different and so we're coming at it
we're all pumped
we're all excited as soon as we get setbacks
we don't really have those data in points to know
all that's normal all that's part of the process
and as you go on the journey for longer
you you just start to learn those things
so I don't think that I was necessarily um
always like that
but I started working in sales when I was 18
door to door sales and so I obviously Learned
you know
every no leads to a yes and knock on 100 doors
someone's gonna say yes lots are gonna say no
so I Learned a lot of that
mental resilience and numbers and
you know it's a numbers game
all of that from my sales career
before I started a business
so when I stepped into business
I think I just already had a lot of that in
in grand into me um
same thing with money but what was I
I probably
I couldn't have always been like that with money
cause if I was always like that with money
I wouldn't have been bankrupt
had god knows how many personal loans when I was 21
like three or four different personal loans
couldn't pay them couldn't keep a job to save my life
got a job quit a job
got a job quit a job
went bankrupt yada yada
so there's a lot of emotion behind that
um if I had been more logical
I would have just kept the job that I didn't like
so I could pay my bills and not go bankrupt
so no I haven't always been like that
I think it's just we learn it in time
it's that Learned behavior
hmm what made you step into going into business
hmm I think I always wanted to work for myself
from the point that I started working in sales
kind of did work for myself
in my first sales job'cause
it was multi level marketing
and it was a bit of a bit of a sleazy
manipulative situation
they treated you like an employee
but you were on commission only
so at that point I Learned commission only right
I Learned that making sales equals making money
and I always kind of thought that at some point
I would start a business and work for myself
and when I went bankrupt for whatever reason
I thought oh
I can't start a business now
cause you need money to start a business
and you're bankrupt which was really just that
I'm scared to go out there
and figure out how to do this thing
so I just put it off for a while until
I don't know at some point I was like
I just wanted to do my own thing
and not been told how to dress
and how to look and how to act
and not get paid the same as someone next to me
even though I was better than them
not have a company tell me
we're not paying you your commissions
just because we can't afford to
and even though I earned them
and so yeah
hmm interesting
interesting so fast forward now
you are running a multi million dollar business
and you have a team of people working for you now
you travel so much and work anywhere
what um
what is this life like when you are in this space
creating like
all of these hard years that you have done
to get to this place what is this feel like now
knowing just how hard you've worked in the past
to get here
what does it feel like now
cool firstly
not multi millions yet uh
we do have a seven figure business
so we are collecting over seven figures a year
um fingers crossed
multi millions soon but um
what does it feel like I don't know
just it I don't
I think people think that like we
we we put the goal on a pedestal and
and we like we
we kind of like I'm gonna be happy when I get here
and I think that that is the biggest um
the biggest blessing of building a business
is you learn to stop delaying happiness
until you reach a goal and you learn to just be happy
and that's probably the best part about
where I am right now like
I can pull out my phone
and a client will be having a meltdown
a team member
maybe has done something that I'm not happy with
our email all last week our email
our technology was wrong
we were sending people to come to an event
at the wrong time for the event
which obviously messes up the show rate
messes up conversion messes up client experience
people are unhappy right
so like any day any day
I can pull out my phone
and find stuff that is not going right
not going the way I want all of a sudden
I have this
massive ass Bill that I didn't know I was gonna have or
um the ads stop working
only after they spend X amount of dollars
or what else right
like there's always gonna be something
something going wrong
and after enough time pursuing the goal
whatever the goal is at some point
somewhere along the way
you realize that it's not about the goal
and it's just about being on the journey
and if people can get to this point sooner
like really get to this point of like
well it just it doesn't matter
my happiness is not dependent on being anywhere
financial
like if you really sit in this moment right now
this moment is what it is regardless
of what's in my bank account
irregardless of what anyone else is doing anywhere else
it doesn't matter to me right now
in this present moment
and if we can just learn to enjoy being on the journey
and that is like that is what it feels like right now
is it feels like I'm just
I'm happy to be alive I'm happy to be here
I'm happy to be turning up and I'm not
I'm not emotionally triggered
when things aren't going my way
because things are actually never going my way
like there's just
there's always more stuff that's not working out
than there is stuff that is working out
and when things do work out
often you work really hard to get to that goal
for a long time
and then the moment is totally fleeting
and then it has completely passed in
in a very short time frame
and so if like those are the only moments
that you're allowed to be happy
then you're just you're not gonna be happy
um so that's what it feels like
is just be happy in the day
no matter what's happening
I love that
because I suppose that is my whole philosophy
with the grounded rich girlies
create that rich girl life along the way
whatever it is however that looks for you
I love that you are showing me what's possible
I think before I stepped into this business
being an accountant
I was helped lots of people manage lots of money
but I was on the other side of it
so stepping into a business myself
it was like well
what is actually possible
and I think being in your world
and surrounding myself with you
plus other people in um
our coaching area
it just has shown me what is actually possible
and you are doing this now yourself
with seeing these multi million dollar people
being in these rooms with such amazing people
how has that really changed your perspective
like when you see what's possible
hmm yeah
I think like the
the biggest cheat code to life is actually
just who you're who you're doing it with
and who you're spending time with
and um
like not this has nothing to do with money really
obviously you know
we pay in business space we pay for mentorship
to learn from people who are ahead of us
and all of my mentors are making 8 and nine figures
so I'm learning from people who are ahead of me
and that's great but it's not really um
about the accolades in that way
it's more like when you were
when you were spending like
those people
who are further along in that journey than me would
they have they've everything I just spoke about
about just be able to enjoy life
in the way that we look at life
in the way that we treat people
in the way that we turn up
they are as far as I'm concerned
further ahead on that journey
and when you start spending time
with people that are further ahead on the journey
then the things that they say around
things that they value
how they respond in certain scenarios
the way they turn up in life
things that they either do or don't
get frustrated about I'll give an example
like I think a lot of regular people
and this is not like having a dig at anyone
but a lot of people who are maybe just working
their normal 9 to 5 job
will get very frustrated and angry about little things
like I went into a sauna last week
and there was this young girl working there
and she was pissed off because she'd lost $95
and from a company they charged her
but she had to cancel but they credited her
they didn't give her the money back
and and she's banging on about it
she should be working and she's banging on about it
to the guests that are just wanting to go sauna
I'm like is my room ready
can I just go sauna
like come on I'm not your therapist here um
but I'm like hey it's just 95 bucks like who cares
like it's not a big deal
but she's so she's so angry about it
and I know people who have like
put all this time and energy into chasing money
when people have done them wrong
I'm gonna go I'm gonna submit this lawsuit
I'm gonna do this
I'm gonna do that I'm gonna get it right
they put this energy into being annoyed and
and things that like
when you see people who are further along
like
they start to value their peace and their happiness
and the way that they communicate with people is
is different
the things that they put their energy towards is
is different um
I don't really know where I'm going with this
cause I can't remember the question
but um what was the question
it's being
around those people who are further ahead than you
showing you possibilities um
not just with money but with life
money allows you to step into those rooms
who have people who are up level
and they
they just make you up level by being around them yeah
I think like proximity is power right
just being around like
for not being around
people who are fussing over those things
and being around people who are putting
their focus and energy elsewhere
obviously shifts that's gonna rub off on you um
and the way that you turn up 100% like I can't
I can't think of anything
better that I've invested my money in
than just being in rooms
and being around people who are thinking differently
because that's just changing the way that I'm
I'm experiencing the world
even if it doesn't immediately change my bank account
it's a it's changing the way I'm
experiencing it and the way that I'm turning up um
and I think like
one of my mentors says this really well
he goes there's
there's the day that you find out your purpose
and there's a day
that you find the people that you're meant to do it
with
and and I think that just really comes back to like
we're on this journey regardless
we're never gonna be at the end goal
we're never gonna be fully satisfied with the goals
and so what's more important is
actually figuring out who you wanna be on the journey
and the people that you wanna spend it with
and be around on the journey
hmm and I think that then comes back to you you know
pay to be in the rooms that you wanna be in
pay to be around those people who
are showing you the possibility show
are showing you this different way of being
and yes that can feel a bit tricky when you've got um
you know do you invest here
do you pay these bills
do you do that like what you said before
but you know
I think that that just really up levels your whole life
and along with that comes the up level of your money
too right
because you just you just acting in a different way
mm hmm 100% I am
I used to have a really good friend of mine and we
we climbed together we went to the gym together
went to the beach together
and when I spent a lot of time texting her
and hanging out with her I was fit
I had ABS
I was tanned because that's all we ever talked about
and it was like this little competition
and the more brown she got
the more brown I needed to get
and the more strong she got
the stronger I needed to get
so that's where my focus was
and that's what was the results in my life
and then
when I started spending time with people who were
focused on going their business
and they're hitting really big goals
well then all of a sudden
my standards start to shift
because they're texting me going
I just did this I just did that and I'm like fuck
I haven't got off my ass all morning
I haven't done anything
so now I better go do something with that
so just being
in proximity with people who are doing more than you
will make you raise your standard right
and
if you are doing the most out of everyone in your peer
circle then that's probably not like
a great peer circle to be in
because it's like you will
you will lower your standards to fit in
to the peer circle um
so yeah
I don't know where I'm going with that except that yes
yeah what's some
some money habits or decisions
that you've made in the past
that have just made a really massive difference in
not necessarily the way you um
create money but maybe the way you feel about money
so think habits that you do that just yeah
have caused you to up level yeah cool
um I don't know
I'm I'm sure that it's like this for men and women um
but I know for women right
women tend to value safety more than men
and money is a safety blanket
having a set amount in savings
or knowing that if anything happened
like you've got your little
you know your
your fund there for that that's a secure
that's a form of security
and then that enables you to take risks and do things
and it's the same if we look at also our Social Circle
if you feel really safe with your partner
or with your family with the people around you
you will take more risk because you feel really safe
and so um
even though I have been able to be comfortable
taking risk when I had no safety blanket
as far as money goes
I think a really smart thing to do for a lot of people
is be willing to work your ass off
to create some kind of safety blanket
um so that you can
continue to make decisions that are risky because
you know you gotta risk it for the chocolate biscuit
and if you really wanna create amazing things
there's probably not gonna come without any kind
of risk um
but just making like just saying
well
don't worry about the fact that you don't have money
for a lot of people that's very hard to
you know it's so hard to like
to get rid of the stress and the anxiety
and the overwhelm that comes with it
um not to say that
you may not have to go through that phase
because I've had to go through plenty of those phases
but having a game plan to try and get to this point
where you do have some kind of security
whatever that looks like for you
um and then also just
uh making friends
making friends with the worst case scenario
so the worst case scenario
a lot of the time for most of us
isn't as bad as what we think it's going to be
and this is what helped me to take risk
when I didn't have a safety blanket
obviously
you wanna work towards having a safety blanket
but if you don't have a safety blanket
it's like well
what's the worst case scenario
the worst case scenario for me was always
well what
I sell my car I go live with my parents
like those things aren't that bad
those things aren't the end of the world
and I think if we realize that our worst case scenario
the reason that we hate it
actually just comes down to pride and ego
and I'm too I don't want anyone to
see me moving back in with my parents
I don't want anyone to see me giving up my car
and driving a shitbox or getting public transport
like it's all ego 100%
if we can make friends with the worst case scenario
and be okay to take a few steps backwards
a lot of the time to go forward
you're gonna have to go backwards
whether that's backwards financially
backwards in your living scenario
backwards in the amount of holidays that you're taking
I didn't go on holidays for two years
when I started my business
I did nothing but work and pay money into the business
and I worked I worked the day job
I worked the business
I paid all my money to the business
and I did nothing like that
that was it and I shared
and I shared an apartment
because I couldn't afford to live on my own
and that and that was how I got ahead
and so I think No.1
be willing to go backwards before you go forward No. 2
make friends with the worst case scenario
it's not that bad and then if you have a game plan
to start to build up that safety
so that you do feel secure right
to keep going forward I think that would be my advice
hmm I love that I I love that wait
make friends with the worst case scenario
I have that in my head Sarah sits on my shoulder
and says make friends with the worst case scenario
cause I think we just get so caught up in
expecting everything to go right
and it's all just gonna happen
it's gonna happen quickly
and we don't give ourselves enough patience or
or show ourselves enough patience and kindness to
to just allow things to happen as they need to happen
so just to wrap up
I I just
I really love being in your world
as I said it's been the proximity
I think for me has been um
probably the biggest thing
as well as seeing
just how methodical you are with your game plan
that I think has really shown me
when you stick to something
play it for the long game
don't overcomplicate things
and just keep showing up for yourself
so I do appreciate being in your world
and what are some final words that you wanna say
just to wrap things up
thank you um
I so appreciate having you as well
um I'm just
gonna
probably just run off the back of what you just said
just then because
the hardest part of
sticking to the game plan
is when things feel like they're so close to working
for so long and you're just not quite there
or you feel like you have a game plan and you're like
this game plan should get me to where I wanna go
but it's just not happening as quick as you
you want it to um and if like
just if you can
commit yourself to remove the emotion from it
and run the play for two years
like run the play for two years
nothing great happens doesn't matter whether it's money
weight loss relationships
business like nothing good is happening in 6 months
it's gonna take longer and it's gonna be really
just dealing with the emotions of not being there yet
is the hardest part and so
if you can be the person that just removes the emotion
from it and goes
I'm just gonna keep running this play for two years
um crazy good stuff will happen
oh that's so good
